Peavey VB2 vs. 600 Watt Solid State

I am currently running a Kustom Groove bass 1200 (600W at 4 ohms) through a Fender 810 Pro. I am thinking of getting a Peavey VB2 to replace this head.
How much would I be loosing volume wise? I have to keep up with a Marshall 50W Tube / 412 and 200W SS / 412. The Kustom is loud enough at about 3/4 on the volume Knob, can the Peavey keep up?

It ought to sound roughly around the same volume cranked up. 225 tube watts and an 8x10 is really, really loud.

I'd suggest buying it somewhere you can return it and trying it out, though.

I wouldn't think you'd have any problem, depending on the diligence of your guitarist's usage of their volume knobs and how much or little grit you want in your sound.

If you're talking clean sound, 225w tube is the same as 225w SS. However, you'll get some more headroom at higher volumes if you're willing to accept a little bit of grit, but if you're looking to kill babies with clean volume I'd stick to the Kustom.

Not really looking to kill babies with my clean volume, just shake them a bit. The two guitarist I play with are very loud so I am looking for loud and clean. I've got an old V4 I use for another band that I may try and see if it can keep up, if so, that may lead me to try the Peavey.

+alot on this. I use a VB2 and my current band situation borders on the ridiculous with one guitarist using a pair of JCM800s with THREE 412s and the other guitarist using a single JCM800 with a pair of 412s - and this is for club gigs (friggin' clowns ) I use the VB2 with a 410+212 and it more than holds up volume wise and I LOVE the tone but I wouldn't call it clean by any stretch. If you're looking for clean, you should stick with the Kustom or if you're looking for a different flavor of clean maybe a GK 1001RB would suit you.

A VB2 can do it, I used mine with a dual jcm 800 guitarist, never failed me, loud as sh*t and sounds great. The od channel on the other hand If you could only blend them or it had it's own eq.
