having owned two Zodiacs BXP (one just like pictured, other one was a sunburst with maple fretboard) and having tried quite a few of these RBX270 basses, I'd say they are of equal quality. I'm a fan of Yamahas (I own two at the moment) and Peaveys (mostly vintage american ones, but the BXPs are great as well). It this particular case, I'd choose the Zodiac, if only for the looks. IMHO it's one of better looking basses ever, very clever design crossing a J with a '51 P with Peavey's own edgy twist. I also find 21 frets being perfect, and I much prefer it to 20 or 24. But that's all very personal, these are both good, solid, very playable, gig-worthy basses. Both are also good mod platforms, if that's your thing. Yamaha's stock pickups are imo better than Peavey's, it's the other way round with the bridge though.
