Pedal Advice

Right now, I have a chorus and wah pedals, I have no pedal board and a small gig. I want expand and I need to know what to get next. Flanger, phaser, octaver, looper, overdrive, distortion. IT'S MAKING MY HEAD SPIN!!!! PLEASE HELP ME OUT. Thanks guys.

Sounds like what you need is a multi-effects processor. it will help you find what effects you want in your music. if you're an advanced player, I would recommend the korg ax3000b. it has a large variety of effects, amp and cab models at an affordable price.

I prefer 70's classic rock but right now am playing in a folk/bluegrass group. I still am looking for rock-orientated pedals though.

Always a matter of personnal taste, so here's mine: Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Delay, Octaver, (although must admit I don't use mine as often as I thought), dirt (listen to Tech 21 VT bass and EHX bass big muff, they're pretty cool) and some kind of enveloppe filter for wackyness: for me, the bassballs does it, but i'm looking to add a wah, the aphex bass xciter, a music man sterling bass, an svt, a convertible car, an extension to the house, more yards on my drive......

Why not try a multi effect unit at first, just to see IF you like effects. I bought a Zoom B1 2 years ago, which helped a lot in terms of defining what i like or not in effects. Then you can go for a pedalboard afterwards, if necesary of course.

It can, but it doesn't have to. I imagine there's a lot of bands you've heard that use effects in a much more subtle way than 'mush'.

If the band is knowledgeable about keeping the mix tight with their effects, it shouldn't turn to mush. IMO.

My suggestion for next pedal would be a compressor of some sort. Either a transparent sounding one, or one that will color your tone a bit when used. It all depends on what you want, and like.

Try a Behringer "Ultra shifter" - does nice octave down AND up, but I found its probably best for chorus/detune effect...
