Pedal Breeders' BIG Board Club Part III

Not too many changes, I added:

Providence Brick Drive...Absolutely in love with this pedal ATM.

Seymour Duncan Studio Bass...I have to admit, I wasn't 100% sold on this compressor when I ordered it, but after quite a bit of subtle tweaking (both at home and with the band), I'm really digging this pedal, it's a LOT more musical (to me), than my MXR Bass comp ever was...I miss the MXR's LED meter, but that's the only thing.

I also added a Voodoo Lab ISO 5 so I could run the comp @ 18V, and run the Providence @ 12V (I didn't want to have to use the Providence wall wart power supply)...everything is now powered off of single ports.

How do you like the Polara?

How do you like the Polara?

In fairness it can get pretty crazy, (in a good way), but I usually use it at more mild settings (plate & room) with chorus.

However in "Halo" mode with the trails on, and the other controls cranked up, if you dump some nasty fuzz, or thick distortion into it, you can get some of the coolest sounds...especially if you feed the Pitchfork into it at the same time.:bassist:

The side jacks?

No, the chicken-head knobs. The fugliest knobs that ever there was. Well, the knobs AND the sidejackage.

You guys know of a small 3 or 4 loop midi controllable true bypass looper? The Titan has made me remember my love for analog drive pedals. I've been missing my old trusty Porkloin from the days of yore for low gain duties, and the Alpha-Omicron is intriguing me for that elusive mid-gain OD/Distortion setting. I want to put all my drives in one loop of the ES-8, then use a separate small looper to pick which pedal I want with each preset. Due to the way my ES-8 has changed my setup, I can't really go back to tap dancing on drives.

Invalid Link Removed, by TH Custom & JMK, but not sure how far the MIDI implementation goes, I think it's MIDI send only.

Why not the Boss MS-3? Ahhh I see, same problem. MIDI out only.

Then howzbout some strange combination of a Molten Voltage and a Disaster Area DPC-5 or DPC-8EZ mashup? I dunno...

At any rate, please do a few demo vids with your upright through the pedalia. Thanks in advance.

@Somnambulance going to fight in the Spanish civil war and then become a writer y/n?

Good thing he wasn't in the navy, or he'd wind up a bitter old man in some dingy sea-dinghy fishing for marlin and writing up tall tales of the one that got away...

I'm not sure I get the point of the following, given that you could just shove a small breadboard in an enclosure and accomplish much the same thing AND be able to modify your circuit, test circuit at band practice or gigs and further modify it to taste...

Then again, if you socketed the entire proto-board you'd have a nifty pedal for prototyping simple dirt circuits with the aforementioned tweakage capabilities, adjusting the circuit so it sits in the mix well with the rest of your band.

Flip the pedal and have the stomper and knobbage fixed to the base-now-lid;
Use Molex connectors for a mini wiring harness so you can separate the lid from the enclosure, or better yet, attach a piano hinge to one side and use neodymium magnets instead of screws. Keep the Molex wiring harness so you can keep the wires tucked off to the side and swap out pot values as needed for different builds...

Yeah, ☝︎, another fhartfhignhewton from my brain-cells...

All of those solutions are a bit too big for my needs. Plan to keep the ES-8 as the main 'Brain' and have an extra loop underneath to have all the dirt pedals in. I think the Decibel 11 thing might be best. The uprights in the background my videos are actually girlfriends. They are gorgeous instruments, and she is a complete bad ass on upright. Puts me to shame. We have messed around with putting here upright through my pedals. It is really hard to make effects sound 'right' on acoustic instruments. But it could be a fun video for the future.
