Pedal order?

Sounds like a good order to me! Fuzz then Wah gives you a more pronounced sound. The flanger can add some movement to your lines followed by the Meatbox to fatten it up. Then the flashback to space out.

I'm no expert, but I was experimenting with an assortment of cheap pedals last year and this is the basic guideline that seemed to make the most sense to me, but I don't recall all the reasoning behind each position.

1. Tuner (if you had one)
2. Wah
3. Any Fuzz/Overdrive/Distortion
4. Any Modulation/Phaser/Flanger
5. Delay

Again, maybe someone who knows a bit more about those specific effects would have a better suggestion, but this is the basic guideline I have been using for arranging my effects.

This guy is correct except phaser should be classified with wah's. I do not remember why I just remember it is not considered modulation. Compressor would also be first in the chain (before or after tuner doesn't matter). Lastly make sure all time effects are before any volume effects like tremolo unless you are going for something quite out there. At the end of the day it is all subjective but that seems to be the recommendation for a starting point.

Bumping this old thread rather than making another "what order" thread.

I've since come into a few new toys to make things more confusing, unintentionally making a run to get into the Pedal Breeders big board club, lol. So to add to the original list:

MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz
Morley Pro Series II
DoD Flanger FX72
DoD Meat Box
TC Electronic Flashback
+
EHX Bass Microsynth
DOD MilkBox compressor
Boss Super Octave OC-3 (not actually mine but currently on the board)
DIY Feedback Loop

Currently I'm going:

Bass > compressor > Loop out > Microsynth > Fuzz > Wah > Flanger > Meatbox > Delay > Loop in > Amp

So my questions really are
- Should the compressor go in the loop?
- Where should the microsynth go?
- And what would YOU do?

Yeah, my buddy is getting into building his own pedals so he made me the looper. Craziest noises coming out of this thing.

The oc3 before the microsynth does sound best. Still playing with placement of the fuzz.

Actually, after having the whole shebang out at practice tonight I might take the delay out of the loop too. I primarily use the compressor and delay and the other stuff only gets used in particular sections in songs . That way I just have to hit the bypass on the looper to turn off the between-song-ambiance.

There is no answer. There is only constant fiddling. Such is the life of a pedalphile.
