Pedalboard into both amp inputs?

maybseem strange but curious if it would cause damage to amp and or hurt sound. Kinda want opinions before plugging it up. Here's the scenario...

I'm building a pedalboard that could be used for two different applications. Trying to figure the best way to rig it to avoid a lot or any re patching of pedal board cables. I will be using an Mxr ab box, single input with two output, so a splitter essentially. Then each path runs thru different pedals so that one path goes to the bass amp and the other goes to guitar amp... What I'm thinking is for the days I'm playing just my bass rig without the guitar amp, could i simply run my bass path normally into the passive input and the guitar path into the active bass amp input and be safe?

The issue will be making sure that the signal-split will not result in hum when using two amps. Combining two signals will be a matter of managing the gain. By selecting an input for active basses or by pressing an input pad on your bass amp you should be covered. Remember to buy an ABY pedal with a transformer to decouple one of the outputs in the split from ground.

Passive signal combining like that is a recipe for tone suck, volume loss, hum, and even feedback. Use an active mixer like the Boss LS-2 instead. You "can" use both inputs on the amp, and nothing will be harmed, neither the amp nor the pedals, but there is a high likelihood it will sound poor.

Yeah I was assuming that opn the poor sound front.. at least if theres no damaging aspect to it I can try it and see how bad it is.. thanks

I've done a similar thing; my bass gets split into two signals by going through a tuner pedal, one signal goes through two more pedals before going into one input of my amp and the second output goes straight into the second input of the amp and can be switched of and on by the tuner pedal.
