Hmm, six pieces of wood and some screws… you actually paid someone money for that?
Ah it’s good to see palette scrap wood go to crafty uses.
But every commercial board I’ve ever looked at was far from being even remotely flimsy as far as the materials and construction were concerned.
How is it any worse than buying the flimsy ugly pieces of metal that make up commercially made pedalboards?
I like my wooden board. As far as robustness goes, wood is far more resilient than metal when it comes to bends and dents. Properly constructed, wood will take a a lot more abuse than metal without getting bent out of shape. Not only that, building your own allows release
ea, what a novel idea: repurposing something instead of just accumulating more crap.
Indeed. Mine is a combination of unused shelf slats and skirting trim with power recessed into the back panel:
...How heavy is it though? That would be my only concern.
Nothing wrong with a wooden board in my view. I considered it, have the tools, have slats from an old futon in my scrap pile, the reason i didnt is it would weigh considerably more than a Pedaltrain.
In a pedalboard I have found decent weight to be a benefit - more prone to staying put on stage and less likely to slip out from under your foot at the crucial moment. In reality, once tricked out with pedals, cables, power and fixtures the contribution of the bare board to the overall weight is quite low, especially with larger boards.
