I do have a strange infatuation with my Boss OC-2 as well. Don't know why. Perhaps I need therapy.

I love my ODB3 pedal, i cud live without it im thinking.. but its handy, and gives a chunky bass tone. to a live set.

I couldn't live without my Korg AX-1B. This pedal is old and beat up but it remains an essential piece of my rig, even with much more expensive pedals around it.
I'm so used to it I could hardly replace it.
The SansAmp BassDriver is also a precious item.

Sans amp Bass Driver, EBS OctaBass, Boss TU-2, Sadowsky Pre/DI pedal. Just added, Digitech Synth Bass/Wah. I generally hate effects, they really color the tone, but I've grown to like the pedals I've listed. Depending on the gig/situation I'll bring whichever pedal I think will work. The Sans amp and Sad. Bass/DI's are great on gigs where you're using someone else's rig, house rig, or a recording session.

My Boss BT-6B - a collection of many, many pedals in one convenient red case!

It's an awesome tool for recording - really makes the bass tone a lot better, plus all the cool effects are fun to play with - one song I recorded in my Last Resistance project actually used the pedal bend effect!

I could live without my pedals for the most part, cause it's the player that makes the difference not the tools.

BUT

If I had to choose my favourite pedal in my line, it would have to be my go to freaky deaky EHX Bassballs. It's like a fire and forget missle. You turn it on, play and then shout "let them eat funk". The attack reaction on it's great. It even lets me lay down trippy phaser sounding rhythm guitar like stuff when my guitarist takes a solo by brushing it with my fingernails. Fun times.

I have gone through stack of effects through the years, but have hit on a small, simple but sweet sounding board that I love. I use a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, MXR Phase 90 Phaser, Boss Bass Chorus, Fender Pedal Tuner and the Dunlop 105Q Bass wah (for when things need to get funky). I love the Phase 90 (the block letter version sound's best for bass) and the Bass Chorus is so versatile, they would have to be the two i would recommend if you had to choose. A word of advice when using effects - is it the best thing for the song? Am I going to add to the song by stepping on this box? And stay away from Zoom effects boxes too.
