Pedals w/DI should have fx loops

I use the loop on my Sansamp BDDI Deluxe for a compressor that I only like to have on a few of my patches. I do think it's odd to have a preamp di without it, though, forcing effects to be before the preamp. But I figure the products would die off if it really was a flaw that affected enough users.

It just seems like a relatively easy thing to include in pedals that have a DI.

You would be surprised. If a passive loop (i.e. just a pair of jacks in between the preamp output and D.I. input) was added it takes extra space and an extra buck or two of parts. But then there would be new threads about why builders aren't including buffered loops in their DI units. If buffered loops were added (which is now adding more circuitry aside from just the jacks), people would ask for variable send/return levels. And if all of those things were added, people would refuse to buy it because at that point it would be too big to fit on their pedalboard.

As much as I love giving people everything they could possibly want, as with all things in life, there has to be a balance. I find far more people interested in keeping things as small as possible than in adding features like an FX loop.

Turns out that passive DIs are abundant, and preamp pedals with no DI are also abundant, and all the processing between those two things are an effects loop.

Not everything needs to be all in one.

And a parallel blend, please, with an adjustable LPF, so I can mix clean lows with the effects in the loop.

And a second DI output, for the unaffected signal, so I can send both to the desk.

And individual level controls for both DIs.

And both DI outputs should accept phantom power to power the unit.

And... I'm sure I'll think of some more in a minute.

Right, a 1590A with top jacks should be plenty for any feature set.
