If you don't gig or travel much, you'll be just fine with the soft case for the Mini. I've never had a problem and I use it at least twice a week minimum for church practices/services. I also use it for freelance gigs and miscellaneous jams and have never had a problem.

If you're truly worried about it though, you CAN get a hard case for it. Hit up ebay and take a look for cases... you may find one for a keyboard or mixer that would work, or there are sellers on there that will build a case to your specs. Search terms like "road case," "ATA case," "effects case," "flight case," etc. The guitarist at my church got one for the PT Pro I sold him (with soft case) that even had wheels on it for about $120 I think.

As far as not getting the volume pedal on there, I don't think you'll miss it much either, especially if you don't use it that much. I downsized to a Mini from a PT1 a while back and haven't regretted it at all. I still have my PT1 around and set up just because and that's where my volume pedal sits, for the same reasons Bassgod mentioned... I only use that board once in a blue moon and swap stuff in and out when I need effects (like volume swells, pitch modulation, reverb, etc) that aren't on my main "essentials" Mini.

I'm planning a mini pedalboard (may be PT mini, or PT nano, not sure yet) and I'm trying to figure out a tuner. I already have a boss TU-2. It looks like the korg pitch black is narrower, but it looks like there's only about 2/10 of an inch in it. This is figured out from photos on the web, including protrusion of the jacks, because I don't know whether manufacturers specs include that or not.

Does that sound about right ? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth getting a new tuner for that tiny saving in space and thinking probably not ... I could stand a 1/10 overhang at each end of the board if it came to it I think.

So far as I can, I'm going for pedals in the 1590A format, but haven't heard of a tuner in that format, although there are some creative ideas here.

I dig it Jerry! I'm getting a "rainbow EQ" vibe from it for some reason. It's a happy pedalboard! lol

I've always been curious about those Meatboxes... but I admit that I'm still not exactly sure what it does. The manual makes it sound like part octaver, part EQ?

5sg., sorry I missed this post.

The Meatbox is basically an octave with a twist. It adds a 35hz tone to the notes. I do keep the 35hz turned down so I don't over-extend my speakers. It is very different sounding than the OC-2/Octaplus or any of the other octave pedals. I just love it coupled with the Phaser.

No worries! :bassist:

Hmm... sounds like it could be pretty interesting, but it also sounds like it could muddy things up pretty quick if one isn't careful with it...

This kinda away from the basis of this thread. I thought that review was fairly good regarding the meatbox.

"This pedal does one thing, and does it extremely well: adds subharmonic bassy frequencies based on whatever you feed into it. The controls tweak the amount and type of these subharmonics that are present, and precise use of ALL the knobs can give you some really interesting ways to shape your sound. The Meat knob controls the mix between the subharmonics and your original signal; when turned all the way right it wipes out the signal entirely and all you hear is deep, pulsating bass. You can get really interesting effects by turning this knob just slightly left of this point to let some signal slowly leak through. The Rump and Flank knobs control different bass frequencies; if you're using this pedal with somewhat "normal" settings these 2 knobs can add quite a bit of depth and presence when set at 2 or 3 o'clock. Finally of course just a volume control. Basically this pedal turns any signal (as long as its not ALL high frequencies to begin with) into a pounding, heavy, powerful slam. With the settings close to maxed out and good speakers, this thing can be physically affecting, especially if you're feeding it a somewhat bassy signal to begin with. But it's also capable of doing more subtle effects and acting as a general bass enhancer if placed on moderate settings at the end of your loops."

Actually I got that incorrect:hmm:. I'll chase down a better explanation. It really is more of a noise maker but I have spent some time with it and dialed it in to work really well.

This is from the DOD website, 12th Jan 1997.

FX32 - Meat Box

The MEAT BOX is a subharmonic generator that can extremely thicken the sound of your bass. It comes with two tone controls,"Rump" (30 Hz), and "Flank" (100 Hz) that allow you to optimize your tone. The other two controls are "Meat"(dry / octave mix) and "Lbs." (volume).

So it sounds more like an octave and low eq combined.

Any recommendations for the lowest profile, most space saving patch leads, (given I mostly have pedals with jacks on the side)

I've been looking at these (allegedly 1/4" high though I doubt that)

but I think that although they're low-profile, the pancake-top is going to make things awkward.

Currently using these

and these stand 3/4" higher than the socket.

I guess I'm looking at Lava cables (or George L's ?) for a quality cable ?
