Pedaltrain Owners...

Easy enough question for you:

What size pedaltrain did you purchase and were you satisfied with your choice?

For instance did anyone pick up the junior and later wish that they'd had a couple more inches on either side? Or vice versa did someone go with the Pro and later want something more compact?

I'm looking at the PT-2. I've got a couple full size EHX units already so I'm assuming I'll want something bigger than the JR, and I'm also assuming that I won't want something as large (and expensive) as the PRO, but would love to hear from those who are happy or unhappy with the size they picked.

I went with a PT-2 because I wanted something smaller than my big board, but with enough room for some fun stuff on it. Plus, I was trying to think through the places I would be playing and what size would fit well. The PT-2 just seemed like the best bet. It won't have everything I want on it, but that is what the big board is for...

I bought the Pro HC and realized the thing was freaking huge! Then I grabbed a Jr. as well and downgraded my gigging board. I still need to make a gigging board (small) and a practice board (large), but I want it to be easy to switch between the two...

I simply don't use all of my pedals, that I would need to bring them to every gig. I do experiment with them at practice often enough though...

I had Pro at first, but I found it to be too big and heavy and I decided to downsize my rig. I got the PT-2 and it works perfectly now. I have everything really mashed in there, but it all fits and its smaller and lighter.

Pedaltrain makes great stuff, great quality and the ATA cases are real nice too.

I was really happy with my old PT-2, until I realized I just wasn't making good use of the extra space.

Now, I'm down to a PT-Jr., and I'm pretty satisfied. It has the extra perk of placing limits on otherwise uncontrollable GAS

Okay, so far two votes for the Jr because the others are too large, and two votes for the PT-2 because the Pro was too large.

So at this point based on your opinions I really should not be considering the Pro.

The footprint on my big EHX stuff will kill off most of the square inches of a Jr though, right? So if I do want to include much else, I'll have to be looking to get a PT-2, right?

I anticipate at a minimum that I'll have some sort of envelope filter/follower in my relative near future. Plus, you've previously convinced me to purchase a Pedal Power 2, so that will be mounted somewhere as well.

Also, the idea of stuff "barely" fitting doesn't sound as if it will be as functional in terms of accessibility, no? If I can get all the footprints on the board but all the switches are at the four corners, I'm not really taking full advantage of the pedalboard concept...

BTW, totally off-topic but I've been meaning to ask what part of the bay you're from. I hail from Richmond, "city of pride and purpose."

You're going to need a PT-2, then. That should give you enough room for some mild expansion.

They recently added a Wal-Mart to Richmond's Hilltop Mall, in case you wanted to know. It's killing all the local businesses.

I too went from a PT2 to a Jr., and I'm happy with that decision. I'm into having one small board for "every day" stuff like DI, tuner, etc. and another small (or not so small?) board for all the fun toys that don't need to go with me everywhere.

I just ordered that huge one in the bag. Right now in the cover band I only use my fulltone bassdrive. But once I get into another original project, all bets are off.

I went for the PT-Pro and have to admit its pretty big. I have about 16 pedals crammed on it but most are fairly small pedals. I clearly don't need them all and would likely have a hard time fitting this board on many small stages.

if I was playing out on a regular basis and having to schlep my own gear, this would be way too much as the roadcase makes for a big heavy unit.

That being said, the roadcase is really well built with built in wheels and a storage compartment inside. The board is really cool and impressive but I really should have gone for the PT-2 as the roadcase for that board can be carried with one hand.

The Jr is even more practical but you would be pretty limited to how many effects you can have at one time. Of course, the difference between what you would like to carry and what you actually use in a given performance are likely quite substantial.

My PT-Pro is really just for fun.

Bought the JR a few weeks ago. Only have 5 pedals -TU2, Punch Factory, Boss bass chorus and Sansamp Prog. BDDI.
So far It really is convenient. I have room to add a couple more small boss size pedals...

Nice and sturdy and light - plus decent soft case.

i went with the junior intentionally. i didn't want too much space because the more space you have, the more you want to fill it up. if i have a small pedal board, i have to be selective about my pedals. only bring the ones i actually use, leave the "toys" at home, that kinda thing.

so yes, i'm satisfied.

I've been assembling a board and I purchased a Jr. to limit what I would put onto it. I am planning on keeping it stocked with the essentials, but nothing else.

Albiet, I don't own it yet, but should be on order eairly december. I'm going on tour, and four pedals in a gig back in the back of a van makes me nervous, so I'm dishing out the cash.

The Jr. is small, convienant, portable, etc, which is what I want considering the fact that the tour spans ten days through Fl, two dates in Atlanta, and one in Nashville, and thats a lot of moving in and out.

And again, it will forever limit me on how much cash I can toss out at pedals I probably don't need.

I bought the PT-2 with the softcase this week and I love it. I did my first gig with it last night and it is solid.

It is pretty big though. I managed to full it completely with the following (pics to come)...

I would HIGHLY recommend the George L's cable kit to anyone buying a Pedaltrain. Solder free/cut to size cables in seconds. This really is a requirement unless you wand tons of loose cable under the board.

Yeah, I just reintegrated my POG last practice, If I didn't want to use that I could get away with a Jr, but ideally I'd like to have that on tap along with another item or two.

I thought the city of Richmond was fighting Walmart's entry?!

Hilltop Mall was already long dead. I remember back when I was a kid -- and as Chris Rock so eloquently stated it was the "mall white people used to go to" the thing had an ice skating rink, four department stores on each end, national chains inside, and was in general a nice place to shop. No gangs. No Wal-Marts.

My rack which has my head in it has all my everyday stuff in it... tuner, power conditioner, and my head has a direct out, so this will be strictly for altering sounds. I can play without it, but it'll be all the toys.

I am really wanting to go with the hardcase so as to have extra protection plus keep knobs and sliders in ideal positions. What's been your experience with the softcase?
