PedalTrain Users: Soft or Hard Case?

I went for the PT Pro with the HC and am really glad I did as the board is pretty heavy loaded up with pedals. I would not be comfortable with it in a soft case.

the quality of the ATA case is very good. It has built in wheels on one end and can be arried along like a suitcase with a handle and wheels.

I know its a big board but I did my research and realized that I just couldn't fit what I had onto the PT2. I have a pretty extravagent board but it really is fun!

Do you have to remove the board from it's case in order to use it? It appears as though the top of the flight case isn't removable. Is this why Tayste had to have a custom case made for his? Sorry for all of the questions, I just want to be sure before buying something that doesn't work for me. Thanks.

P.S. That's an awesome board, Crabby.:bassist:

Yes the case is simply a road case. Its a very good one but the board is completely seperate.

Thats why you have the option of just getting a soft case with the pedal board.

Its very simple to just drop the board into the case and close the lid. It fits very well. I had to make sure when setting up the pedals that none of the cables or pedals stuck out over the board, otherwise it wouldn't have fit inthe case.

Well, I just ordered a PT2 from MF with the hardcase. I must admit, I didn't pay close attention to size and weight. It is well built but also quite large and heavy (neck issues). I sent it back and just got the same board with the bag. I'm actually now debating on getting a PT JR, as I seem to have more space than I need on this board. Haven't made the final decision yet. I will say that the case version was an extremely well built flight case with room to spare for extra storage next to the board. Just too heavy for me once I fill it up with pedals, etc.

I really like my PT-Jr.... even though I probably won't be able to keep my Power Wah on it, I'll be able to place it on the side and only bring it when I actually need it. The only thing I need to do now is find the old rubber feet for my wah... I know I've got a bunch of rubber feet somewhere :hmm:

I have to admit, if I was lugging this board all over the place on a regular basis it may become tiresome. But then I would just pick up a jr and bring the essentials.

i own the junior with ATA case. i got the junior because i didn't want a lot of effects in my line (though all my effects are true bypass) and i wanted to make sure that the effects i did have would be used well, so i had to choose well because of the limited space. i know it's mostly mental, but i'm odd like that. that said, i'd walk on the ATA case. the only other case i've ever said that about was an old Anvil briefcase my father gave me. build like a tank and twice as ugly. ATA!! ATA!!

yeah :)

that's the way to go .. i am so tempted to get a Pro HC deal somewhere ... but realistically I only need PT-2 size ever .. worst case I'll move my VP Jr. on the floor :) and carry it separately .. should be ample of space in that PT2

and yes..

So, I've been having this debate lately... I'll probly pick up a Jr in the near future and was curious about what others used... By my standards, there will likely be a decent chunk of cash sitting on it in pedals (Blueberry, mammoth, empress trem, quasar, etc) and I'm worried about breaking them. But then the other hand is that I just got a nice portable setup and the softcase would be nice for ease of transport...

I dunno... is the soft case that questionable about protection, or the hardcase that tough to move around? I may end up on public transit with the thing, but probably not taking it to gigs or anything like that.

I guess this is kinda redundant, but there's only one or two Jr users that have piped up.

For the price difference and the peace of mind, I would recommend a hard case. The PT2 and Jr models are quite easy to carry in one hand when using the AYA case. My PT Pro case is heavey and large but its also a really large pedal board.

The soft case would always make me nevouse and the settings on each pedal getting moved inside the bag would be a pain in the butt.
