Pedulla Rapture?

Hey all,
I have a Pedulla Rapture with the single Bart pick up. I have noticed that the bass has a very agressive tone, bordering on grindy, especially on the A and E strings. I can remove some of that tone by cutting the mids with the mid cut, but I am really hoping to get a cleaner sound out the bass.
Would lowering the pick up have any effect on this tone? I read on the Pedulla site that the p/u should be 1/8 of an inch from the bottom of the strings, with the string held down at the last fret. That's how I set it up.
(The battery is new, just in case that's what your thinking)
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fishheadjoe

A Rapture 4-string? Often it helps to lower the bass side of the pickup slightly to compensate for the higher output on the lower strings. FWIW, I found the stock pickup in my Rapture 5 to be dominant in the lower midrange, but a bit rolled off in the highs. I've since installed a Q-tuner, which has more output and a dramatic increase in clarity.
