My mom does the exact same thing. She's always hastling me to get a hair cut! I always say "Why do you care so much! it's not your head!" Parents suck

you're talking about my job, my people here. i am one of the very few and elite career substitute teachers. and i do it in a NYC High School. any one who wants to rag on us, come and do it for a day.
why i do it? cuz i somehow got duped years ago into becoming an English teacher (you know, I needed to have a "REAL" job) and after a while realized that THAT was TRUE insanity. going home to mark 300 essays from kids who can't write, if done only once in a lifetime, is worse than what the nuns told me hell was. Doing it every week was something I couldn't live with. so i sub. it pays $130 a day, time and a half if a teacher gets pregnant or takes off for 30 days, i can collect unemployment when I don't work - and i'm FREEEEEEEEE to tour, take off if i have a late nite gig, etc, etc. get to go home at around 2:00 every day too which enables me to do lots of other stuff and work other jobs if i need to.
it really is a pretty good gig. once you get the hang of it.
now with that out of the way, I had a student named Sadowski (true), and I told him the same thing (true). He made a face at me (like you're weird dude) and took my pencil case away.
