Per Mathisen - the Bass Viking

I searched and found no mention of this cat on TB. Per Mathisen the "Bass Viking".

I have now listened to him on several recordings, he is NOT BAD! Anyone ever catch him live? Some clips to enjoy...

I know that some of you will throw him into the Jaco category, but I think he has his own style and chops. He plays a mean upright too! Enjoy.

Just watched that first video again. At least some of you guys will be very impressed I believe,
especially if you had never heard of Per before - as I did not before today. Looking for comments
out of curiosity to see if I am way off Bass

Watching that guy solo made me want to put down my hammer and nails and go practice. Unfortunately, the music going on around the bass was my least favorite kind of overly busy fusion jam. I'd be interested in hearing him play with a rock drummer, though.

Regardless, I never heard of this guy before yesterday, and I think he rocks!
