Perfect ending to a stressful day

I had to google "orange barrel" and I'm still not sure what it is (I mean it's LSD --- but is it in tiny aluminum containers? or pills shaped like a barrel?) I'm old enough to know but my mom wouldn't let me go to Woodstock or take acid so I don't really quite know all the history of psychedlia.

So ... back to the keg story ... nobody wants to believe me (until I show them the keg - and still they find it hard to believe) ... but I assure you it is true. Now the story gets hard for me to believe though ........

So my band played a concert in the park tonight - about 3-5000 people in the audience and the weather was perfect. I have been scrambling all week (since the keg fell off the truck and into my life) to try and rent a tap. Nobody would rent me a tap since I didn't buy the keg from them --- all the taps I found on Amazon etc. would have taken too long to be shipped for me to buy one and have it in time for the concert in the park tonight.

So I finally found a local "home brew" supply store that had a cheep/cheesy plastic tap that was still way overpriced --- I bought it --- I bought a large package of plastic cups --- I bought a bunch of ice --- I showed up at the park with a tall can to set the keg in and got the keg all iced and tapped and poured myself a great cup of beer (I've never had the Heroine IPA before - it is really good let me tell you). And because I've had the keg in my fridge for a few days - it was ice cold and the first cup wasn't all foamy like you usually get from a keg. The very first pour was terrific. So I invited my bandmates --- started with the conga player - he said "no thanks I'm not drinking tonight" went to the bass player "no thanks - I don't feel like drinking" ... and so on through the band ... I just couldn't f===ing believe it ... I have a keg fall from heaven at my feet and I drag it to a perfect outdoor concert in the park on a gorgeous summer eve .... and nobody in the band wants to have any. (well the drummer had one cup and the guitar player had one cup and I managed to force a beer on a friend who showed up to hear the band). So I found this much more unbelievable than how the keg came to me in the first place. I mean my band is always drinking (much more than I do) and tonight, they just aren't in to it? What the ...? I had to wonder if I was back in Salt Lake City ... but no, I was still in California .. ***?

Now the next thing that is really hard to believe: I think I played really well tonight (haha - could be the beer talking - but seriously, I had a great time and played my ass off) but the sound was really off. New sound guy who didn't know what he was doing and tons of feedback - the band seemed to screw up half the songs because they couldn't hear themselves very well (honestly --- I know what you're thinking - but they weren't screwing up because I was drunk and missing my parts --- hahaha). The concert was a success and all ... but it was not a great performance ... and honestly it wasn't because of me and my keg of beer (though that is the part that is going to be the most difficult to believe)

Anyway ... I ended up bringing the keg home (it's still nearly completely full) and the neighbor lady was kind enough to come out and help me finish off about half of the keg .. and we're going to see if we can polish of the rest of it tomorrow.

I think the whole idea of the band not wanting to even have one cup of beer is much more unbelievable than the story of how I got the keg in the first place. (and I'm still wondering if I'm dreaming - I just can't believe it ... and I was there)

Any of you guys in the bay area? Come on over to Alameda and I'll pour you a few pints (this stuff is really good). I have a drum kit (that I can't play very well) and a great bass amp and a hammond/leslie - bring a drummer, help me finish this keg and we'll jam.

They were tiny barrel-shaped pills. Not that I would know, of course... I mean, my mom wouldn't let me take acid either. But I had this friend. Well, not a close friend, of course, because my mom wouldn't let me hang out with people like that. And don't be suspicious just because I saw a hundred Grateful Dead concerts and drove to most of them in my '65 VW microbus. Not that I'm paranoid or anything. What were we talking about?

Now you got me interested in the "neighbor lady." She seems awfully nice to help you drink gallons of beer. . . LOL.

Cool story, bro. The whole thing sounds like a dream I had. . .

So you and the neighborhood lady drank a quarter keg of beer by yourselves? ***?

You've obviously never partied with Dennis Hopper ....

>>in case I need to explain my reply to the youngsters here<<
from an interview with Dennis Hopper on David Letterman I believe:
"I was doing half a gallon of rum with a fifth of rum on the side, twenty-eight beers and three grams of cocaine a day -- and that wasn't getting high, that was just to keep going, man,"

Hey .. I had a VW microbus too .. mine was a '67 I think, campmobile, split windshield -- ah those were the days.

Andy, Sounds like the band was a little smug with your luck....I'll be in the Alameda area Friday, with my drummer. If we have some extra time on our hands I'll PM you, & take you up on that offer - that IPA is bomb!

My guitar player and I were sitting at a red light in Tuscon, AZ, in a convertible when a guy came running by and as he passed us he tossed a thermos in the car and turned right. Seconds later a cop runs by, chasing the guy. We go a green light and left. When we got back to my place we opened the thermos and there was 100 servings of orange barrell. It was a beautiful weekend in the desert.
Lemme guess - 1968 or '69?
