Performance Bass Guitars

Has anyone out there, heard of a bass made in Los Angeles California called "Performance."? I attended a Smooth Jazz Concert in Camden, New Jersey and Euge Grooves Bassist was playing a J Style bass by Performance. The tone was incredible. I have tried Google, but nothing comes up.

The bass teacher I used to work with had a Performance J 5'er with Bart pups - beautiful instrument. He had a couple of setup issues when he first got it, but once everything was dialed in, he was totally in love. The few minutes I spent playing it gave me a very positive impression.

hey virgil, i live in los angeles and just bought one of these last month. they are great basses. heres a couple of pictures of mine. i know Natalie Coles bass player and he's the one who hipped me to these basses.

I just watched Bobby Caldwell and talked with his bassist afterwards and he, also, was playing a "performance bass"
Performance is a custom build shop that puts "your" parts on "your" bass. They are not mass produced and they are as SWEET as everyone thinks. The tone on this particular Jbass was phenomonal!! If you would have closed your eyes at any time during the set you probably would have though he changed basses. I'll post more; the more I find out from my new friend. . .

I owned a Performance 6 for a short time... Ivory, I think I got that bass from you. Anyway, killer basses - great necks. I'd love to have one made for me.

I played a couple at the NAMM Show this year and was floored! I love Jazz Bass bodies and the tone and feel of these Basses were so killer I have one coming now! I jump in and out of a lot of different situations and I know this Bass is going to be one of my top touring Basses!

The nicest/smoothest/most beautiful/well built bass I've ever played and the neck is unbelieveable!!!!!
Definitely the best bass I've owned and I thought nothing could top the neck on my 1978 4001 ric but the performance beats it in every shape way and form but of course you really can't compare a ric with this beast. Totally different leagues.

The 1st player I saw playing one was Ethan Farmer,and then after him there became an array of players who has them.
It's as close to a 70's sounding 5 string bass as I've ever heard even more than the Marcus Miller 5 Fender.

These are my latest basses. The Black one has Bartolini NTCT Preamp and HB-Kar pickups which is Performance own pickups. The red one has the pickups from a swedish guy that makes " Fender" pickups (Johan Lundgren Invalid Link Removed or www.lundgren.com) and it has a Aguilar OBP-3 preamp.
I´ll post the third bass soon.
