Well, I've been a member for a long time, but apparently I haven't posted regularly for about 7 years...so I'm sure no one remembers me, I'm probably considered a new member again heh...
I've been playing bass (and to a lesser extent, regular guitar) for a long time, in the past when I was active on here I had a group I regularly gigged with, and had a nice woodshop to do luthiery in...but my bandmates moved, and we kindof went our separate ways, my landlord (who owned the woodshop) moved and I lost all that fun stuff to work with (though I'm slowly building my own woodshop, so y'know...), I've had some family issues and work stuff going on so my playing has had to take a back seat to other matters (though I never stopped, practicing and playing has been pretty infrequent). and now that I'm able to, I'm trying to get back in practice, and I've even got a little folk group that I've played a couple small shows with, so I'm having fun.
I've got several basses, an UDB, several BG's, and I've got a EUB on it's way right now...
I'm at work right now but lets see if I have some pics I can share, because, hey who doesn't like pics, right?
Here's my rig, it's an older Avatar cab with modified 4th order crossover (someone on here used to make and sell the upgraded crossovers, and that's what it's running), an older Demeter 1.5 space tube preamp (got it from someone on here years ago), a QSC poweramp, and furman power conditioner:
Here's my Warwicks, the right one is an older Corvette (pre-'98 when they used solid Wenge for the necks, and solid bubinga for the bodies) with some upgraded pickups, Dimarzio IIRC...the left one is an older fortress (really old, the serial number is in the 300's, and I think it's production date is back in '93) that the original owner converted to a fretless before I got it, and then when I got it I had to fix his conversion mistakes :lol: but it is great now, has a fantastic tone with flatwounds on it.
Then I've got a Christopher 200 series Double bass with some minor customizations by Norton Customs, back when they were in business...some of you purists out there might have a stroke because of the black stained bridge...I'm a little different I suppose heh...
and I've got a NS designs NXT-4 in black that is en route to me as we speak.
Then I've got a couple BG's that I've built when I had the means to do so:
this one is my first attempt at luthiery I only built the body on it, its solid zebra wood, and it weighs like a million pounds so I really don't play it, its more of a decoration now I ended up gutting the electronics and selling them a few years ago.
Then I've got my second luthiery attempt with lots more pics, this one I made everything, the neck, body, inlay, pickup cover, I even designed the bridge and had a company in Germany CNC it for me. its a different design, and much more intricate than the zebrawood one (i've included wood colorings for those who may not be familiar with them), its a neck through design, on the back the neck is layers of Wenge (dark brown), Bubinga (reddish), and maple accents (light tan). the body wings are good 'ol black walnut with a slight figure, the electronics cover is ebony (black).
the top is a Amboyna burl (swirly reds), the fretboard is dark ebony (black) with stringers of bubinga on the edges (redish), and mother of pearl inlay, and again the light wood is maple. the pickup cover is made from the same wood and houses a Nordstrand humbucker (quite honestly, its been so long I can't remember the model, I want to say its a 4.4, or whatever the nomenclature was back in those days), frets are stainless steel, with a zero fret, and a nut made from bubinga wood.
you're all going to hate me, but I finished the construction on this several years ago, but never got around to wiring it up, so I've never played it....yet...

Well, thats pretty much my gear (at least when it comes to basses)...as far as style, I like it all, blues, jazz, rock, funk, punk, rap, R&B, classical, country, metal, bluegrass, folk, you name it. but regardless of what I'm playing my style has it's roots in blues and jazz for the most part.
