Peter Jogo Build - Aqua Jazz

Just received this bass from luthier Peter Jogo based out of State College, PA. This is the 1st Jazz style bass I've owned and the 4th Jogo bass i've acquired. The first 3 were repurposed P-bass bodies with various necks (Fender, Warmoth, one of his own).

Once I saw this bass, I knew I had to have it! He was a bit torn in selling it, but he started making its replacement!

Specs:
Semi-Hollow "Honey Comb" body construction.
Reinforced 5 piece neck with pitched headstock.
Single binding on Body, Neck and Headstock.
Flame Maple Headstock Veneers.
Birds Eye Fret Board.
Hand Cut Pickguards. (Two-Tone Pictured, Solid White Spare)
Hipshot Ultra Lite Tuning Machines
Schaller Roller Bridge
Lollar Jazz Pickups w/ '62 Fender Style Concentric Tone Circuit
DR Hi-Beam 45-105 Strings

Weighs in just over 8lbs.

The bass sounds great!

He originally had it loaded with EMG Active Jazz pickups and preamp with White covers. I wanted a vintage tone with no batteries.

Lollars are great pickups! Very easy to get the tones you want out of it! dual tone control is a great help!

The binding all over is what sold me. In my opinion, Jazz basses should be decked out! Matching inlays to the color was the cherry on top. Even his logo is the turquoise inlay! His attention to detail is up top notch!

All the fancy Fender clones bore me with their slight variations on the traditional style but this one is different. Enough subtle and tasteful differences to make it interesting to look at.

He's open to most ideas! Hes helped me with modifications to stock basses, refinishes, etc. This happens to be the first complete bass I couldn't pass up!

Took me a week or two to come to terms with how bright the bass is!! Ive got a couple black basses and a couple lighter colors, but nothing BRIGHT. Figured it was time to expand the palette!

I lived in State College for nearly 30 years and Peter was one of the best bassists in town. He's also an amazing fine artist/painter and an all-around great guy. I own his prototype J-bass, built before he started the honeycomb process and making his own necks. The bass is beautiful and an excellent J, it just happens to be made of solid swamp ash and weighs... um... more than this particular 70yo wants to hang around his neck for three hours. I've used it in the studio and pull it out to practice when I need a J sound. If I save my pennies maybe I can buy one of his new, lighter ones.

Beautiful bass. As soon as I saw your original post I tried to find Peter Jogo's website via Google but the photographer's site was a close as I got. I found his art site but didn't see any references to lutherie. Can you post a link to Peter's lutherie site? Thanks.
