PF 500: Failure Issues?

Havent heard too much trouble with the newer ones, but the early ones had some problems. Seemed almost daily guys were reporting problems with them. Since then though I haven't heard much so it seems they have sorted it out. I'd think if it is an early one I'd pass but if it is a later one I think it would be fine.

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. There are so many reliable and comparable options I don't know why anybody in the know would buy one of these.

Funny side note, I recently went in to my local L&M and saw a PF-500. I figured it would be a great head to test one of those Fender Rascal basses. I was chatting with a friend, who is the resident bass guru in-store, while he hooked up the amp. We both had a laugh when he turned it on to a fault light and he is not on TB, so it is a pretty known problem.

The fault light comes on every time you turn on the amp.

Because they sound amazing and if you like it you should buy it. I tested a gazillion amps in this price range and tone wise I kept coming back to this. Lots of electronics have defects. Look at the tc bh250 it can lose a screw inside the case that can lead to electric shock to the person. Would I buy one. Yup! its a great little micro amp at a great price and they always fix the issue! I don't know just my opinion.

LOUD has done something good
They put the schematics at

Including the latest revs. If the amp is out of warranty, a tech could probably apply the equivalent changes. If they are a "good" tech that understands how to work on modern equipment.

Giving the schematics a once over. It seems to be a well designed amp. Loud should have done a recall on the early revs, and put a sticker on the outside of the amp.

An amazing sounding PF500 is like driving a defective Meserati. Maybe it can get you from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds but when it dies on you, you are SOL.

Yes, this post has been beaten to death, only because the heads keep failing.

If you go PF series, go for the PF800.

When was the most recent PF500 failure thread or post? Genuinely asking b/c I haven't seen one in a while.
