I meant relative to when you bought the amp.

Well I bought as a refurb from CG in November. So it makes sense. Thanks.I meant relative to when you bought the amp.
Deep, ballsy fire!I've owned two PF 500s (still own one, sold the other). Both are working fine. Am I playing with fire?
I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. There are so many reliable and comparable options I don't know why anybody in the know would buy one of these.
Funny side note, I recently went in to my local L&M and saw a PF-500. I figured it would be a great head to test one of those Fender Rascal basses. I was chatting with a friend, who is the resident bass guru in-store, while he hooked up the amp. We both had a laugh when he turned it on to a fault light and he is not on TB, so it is a pretty known problem.
Update: visited GC to cross reference with all your good a
Info and the unit was already snagged! Problem solved!! Thanks again and I'm sure all will benefit from this discussion.
The fault light comes on every time you turn on the amp.
The fault light remained on and the unit failed to produce sound, it was definitely broken.
Why? I don't work thereWondering when JimmyM will chime in....

Because they sound amazing and if you like it you should buy it. I tested a gazillion amps in this price range and tone wise I kept coming back to this. Lots of electronics have defects. Look at the tc bh250 it can lose a screw inside the case that can lead to electric shock to the person. Would I buy one. Yup! its a great little micro amp at a great price and they always fix the issue! I don't know just my opinion.
When was the most recent PF500 failure thread or post? Genuinely asking b/c I haven't seen one in a while. An amazing sounding PF500 is like driving a defective Meserati. Maybe it can get you from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds but when it dies on you, you are SOL.
Yes, this post has been beaten to death, only because the heads keep failing. I guess Ampeg just figures keep selling them, take the chances and the repairs will be a tax write off.
If you go PF series, go for the PF800.
