PHANTOM POWER ON AMP/ D.I. - WHAT AMPS DONT LIKE IT?

Is there a (inline) device, to help-out with this problem?

My BBE 383 preamp doesn't like seeing phantom on its XLR output.

I solved it by using the balanced output to feed my power amp, and when I need a DI feed to a board I use the pre's unbalanced output into a direct (DI) box. I have both a passive (transformer coupled) and an active direct box. The transformer one doesn't pass DC from the output to the input, and the active one actually runs on phantom power, so they're both suitable for the situation.

There was some question about the Mesa DI a few months back. Mesa got back to me, and its perfectly fine to run Phantom on a Mesa 400+ DI.

Yeah - the 400/400+ DI is fully transformer coupled.

My AG500 does not react well to phantom power. It tweaked the hell out one night when the soundguy didn't ask me whether it could use phantom power, and distorted pretty heavily the whole night.

My Demeter HBP1 preamp should not be connected to phantom power.
My Eden Metro is OK with phantom power.

I ask the sound guy and/or chech the board myself. I see a lot of global phantom power switches that have been on for years.
When I ask-(inform) the uh..."sound guys" at the small clubs I play, there reactions range from a blank stare to "Gee I didnt know that".
We all need to spread the word.

I had thought previously that the thunderfunk DI was not phantom friendly, so I PM'd Dave Funk. I was wrong. It is phantom power safe per Dave.

IIRC, it's transformer coupled, so you're OK.
