Heyo! Just last thursday I ran to Sam-Ash and picked me up a boss ph-3 over the mxr phase 90 (don't kill me for this, I honestly prefer the array of sounds the ph-3 can make). I came for a small stone but they didn't have one and the ph-3 was just as good for me. Should I return that and get another in the similar price range (note: i got it used for $70 and am not willing to pay a ridiculous amount for a pedal), or keep it? I'm happy with it but I know you guys always have something better up your sleeve
. anyway, enough about the phaser, now for the flanger. I looked up Justin Chancellor's pedalboard (he's always a good starting point for me) and found that he's a user of Boss's bf-3. I've always had some weird prejudice against boss but since the ph-3 swung me, this is now my top choice for flanger. I'm looking for a very wacked out, swooshy, high-depth low-speed flange to just kick on with a fuzz before it and let it just explode. I currently have a flanger loaded on my bg250 amp, but since with toneprint you can only control it with one knob i'm obviously looking for more. Back to the flanger, my top 3 choices are the bf3/2, TCE Vortex, and Stereo Electric Mistress(by default cause i'm an EHX fanboy). I'm also interested in the source audio hot hand flanger/phaser but it seems gimmicky and crappy to me. to recap: return ph-3 phaser for better one? boss bf3, TCE Vortex or SEM best for crazy distorted flanging? Is the hot hand phase/flange a gimmick? Thanks in advance.
Edit: I feel obligated to say that the flanger loaded on my amp right now is "Flange Me" by Carlos Del Puerto and I like it but I wish it was slower, so if you have a vortex/BG250/BH250 load it up and you'll pretty much see what I like
