Phase Probleem?

I have a bass that has j style pups that has pickups with wires blk, white and a shielding around theblk and white. I wired the white to the blend and the black to ground on the volume pot. The shielding wires are soldered together. They both work great when panned but in the middle the volume is low and thin. Can anyone give me some suggestions please. Thanks...GOD bless you!

You're using a blend pot? It's common for there to be a drop in volume at middle with a blend. What you would want to do is only connect the pickup hot and output wires to the pot, don't connect the other tabs to ground. What it will do instead is just dim the signal by adding series resistance instead of shunting signal to ground. I believe you want a 500k MN pot for this.

If the tone is thin, they are probably out of phase. Try reversing the wires on one pickup and see if that helps.

I have no drop outs when using a blend pot. But you have to make sure its wires up the right way.
