Double Bass Phil Jones Double Four BG 75 + MK Contrabassi Studio Up

Maybe this belongs in the MK mega-thread, but I wanted to post this in the general EUB thread since really it concerns the Double Four more than the MK.

I'm completely new to upright playing and to Talk Bass. To learn, I recently acquired a new MK Studio Up (domestic situation does not allow for an acoustic DB)—many, many thanks to Talk Bass posters for bringing the existence of Mirko's instruments to my attention. The instrument is superb. My old Fender 1997 BXR 200, however was and is not at all superb. Over the Memorial Day holiday I was able to find a PJB Double Four on sale for $384 new.

LORDY, does the Double Four make the Studio Up EUB sing! If anyone is wondering what kind of practice amp to pair with her new EUB, I am in love with the Double Four pairing. I am blown away by how much sound comes out of those two little four inch speakers with no distortion anywhere to be heard. I am also blown away by how much the MK *sounds* like an acoustic DB through the Double Four. I don't get the sense of any tone baked in. And the Double Four does a great job pushing the instrument's sound to headphones, too.

That's it.

It's a good gig amp too. I actually got a second one, connected Line Out to Aux In for 140w, confirmed by Phil himself. Added extensions to the feet to both fit on top of each other and to have a laptop battery hook & loop to the the bottom of each.
