Phil Jones lacks bottom?

I´ve been playing (blues) with the Phil Jones Suitcase
together with the 4B extension cab for about a year. I tend to feel the rig lacks some bottom/low end.

Was thinking of replacing the 4B extension cab
with e.g. an Ampeg 1x12 or 1x15.

Anyone thoughts / experience on this?

Unfortunately, the piranha speakers don't move a lot of air and they fart out fairly easily. There's so much stuff better than Ampeg that it'd be my last choice. DrBass, BagEnd, Bergantino, Epifani, these are all good to go, and 1x12 should do it.

IME the PJ stuff doesn't lack bottom at all, but it's inefficient in terms of air moved per pound and per dollar. I had the suitcase/ext setup and it wasn't loud enough-seemed quieter than my Epi 210 and LM11 with the same power. I sold it and much later picked up a used 9B that sounds huge. However, that monster is thirsty. Currently I have it under a Carvin BX1200, pushing 800 watts through it. It's not nearly as loud as other cabs out there, but the bottom is exceptionally well-defined and thick. It sits in my basement as a rehearsal rig, since the cab (75lbs) and head (35lbs) are way heavier than I need to haul.

There's no doubt that replacing the ext will give more volume and fatness for the combo's 300 watts. A 210, 112 or 115 will all change the volume and tone. I'd make sure to get something as efficient as possible (I'm partial to Epi and Schroeder).

I got a chance to borrow a Marbass 1x15 cab from
a friend which I tried out at our latest rehearsal,i.e
I exchanged the 4B ext cab with this 1X15.

I was very happy with the result. It really made
a difference. It added the bottom that I´ve missed
and they sounded great together.

However I don´t think I need a 1x15 and I don´t
think MarkBass is the brand either I´ll go for. I will
most likely order an Aguilar GS112 on Monday. I´m
sure that will sound even better.
