I lugged my bass down to the Guitar Center today and tried a powered QSC K8 with my AMT mic and Realist plugged into my Headway Pre... My intention was to try the K10 but they didn't have one. I was quite impressed with the sound, particularly with the mic. Very true, very transparent. Lovely with the bow. I tried the stand, on a chair and on the floor. I never actually got it to feedback only pushing it to what I would feel comfortable on stage. Those setting were all about 6 (K8, gain, master on EB1). I felt that I was getting into feedback territory though I got quite close to the speaker without incident. The Realist was usable, thicker, but far less interesting than the AMT alone. I suppose a little Realist might be nice in the mix with other instruments playing as it thickens up the mids. I certainly haven't had any better sound onstage. It's not as warm as acoustic, but it was very woody and it sounded like my bass. I can imagine the K10 would add a little warmth. A very economical solution to my needs. Next I'll try the PJB stuff. I could easily live with this set up (even the K8, which was quite small and light)...
