I'm not really a fan of the Phonic name brand at all, but I just saw a random link to this product come across my screen and I checked it out:

Looked up their website and perused the owner's manual. Interesting feature set, and available for $749 US. You can be up and running with iPad, android, hardwired USB mouse and VGA Monitor, or hard wired via ethernet. It has a lot of desirable features, some quirks, depending on your taste. Not sure if I like the GUI... If only the scene memory remembered input trim position, I'd be really REALLY tempted...oh well...

Ok...who is going to be the first to dive in? LOL!

i'm scared a' that one, good luck getting support or parts in a year, and the well-established mackie 1608 is not really much more money.

I hear ya, Walter. The Phonic name brand does not exactly instill a whole lot of confidence in terms of business profile within the industry, let alone product/customer support. I just thought it interesting going through the manual and looking at the feature set they've stuffed into this box. If Mackie had implemented many of these features, even at their original street price of $999, I think a lot of people would have sh!t some bricks. It really does have some neat tricks that I wish the DL1608 had from the get-go. Some of the features will NEVER exist, like the ability to plug in a USB mouse and video monitor and use it without an Apple wireless device. I love that feature, especially in a device with no hardware knobs/buttons/faders. At least you aren't S.O.L. if something goes wrong with your iPad and you need an immediate solution.

I would love it if they had an optional hardware control surface... Even channel gains on an independent box, or gains plus faders and a group of master faders and some led ladders... For me, that would make the rack category a little easier to swallow. Still 32 channels and master Fader at 2 grand is pretty attractive... I've been sleeping ;-) Is Master Fader Touch OSC capable ? That would open up a hardware control surface....
