Phonic PAA3 Audio Tester

Anyone use one of these? Pretty nifty little RTA that I stumbled across while surfing. It looks super convienient AND useful esp. for smaller gigs when you do your own sound. Does anyone else use a graphic EQ and RTA to achieve flat response in a boomy room? Please discuss.

I don't know the PAA3

When I do sound , I always use SpectraFooX from Metric Halo to tune the room ( Transfer function ) and use a lot the phase torch or spectragram.
Very very usefull tool but it would never replace your ears.
Always use these as tools never as an absolute reference.

I work at an A/V company, and the installation guys have one of these. I don't think they like it very well, though.

We have a Rane RTA in the rack. Our soundguys use this for FOH & monitors-some only for monitors & some bring their own on their laptops. I don't know how the Phonic is. It looks like a cool unit. You can save settings to memory & take an average of settings. It also does SPL, Reverb Time & has a USB connection. Not bad at 399.00 street.

It's not as precise as a CPU , but it's a nice tool to have within your phone.
Like a "Leatherman" or a "Gerber" would never replace a complete tool kit but it can help sometimes......

If you are bad at calling feedback frequencies (I am) and use 1/3 octave EQs (I don't), RTAs are useful gadgets. However that's all I consider them useful for. (And as SPL meters of course - if they are calibrated). If you have an iPhone: http://www.faberacoustical.com/products/signalscope/
