I dabble in photoshop a good bit. Between making logos for my characters in various MMO's, or band logos, or something. If you go to my music page on Facebook and look at the artwork there, I did those. Some stuff I do is, okay. Others, not so much. www.facebook.com/fallpariah/. I also just got done with these for my EP cover/backing. The back cover is just a place holder/idea. They style and everything will remain the same, but I'll end up changing the song names and fixing it.

Just remember, this is going to be primarily looked at squeezed on the back of a cd case, so the print is going to be even smaller. I'd recommend printing a copy out at that size, holding it at whatever distance you would a cd case while reading it, and see what you think.

As for my own stuff, I'll post some things I've made when I get home.

This art work was actually made using a template. This I have a printed version of the case somewhere around here, and it's perfect.

Sweet! I wasn't trying to say it was bad, just voicing a concern. It's not that it's hard to read (for me anyway), just that it takes a half second or so of my eyes processing the font, since it's not as clear as "standard" writing.

Photoshop is one thing. Graphic design is another. As any good graphic artist will tell you, the harder you make it for your audience to perceive your message, the faster they lose interest in it.

That type, while neat to look at, is almost unreadable.

It's kind of like gang style writing. Gang bangers can read it just fine but everyone else is going to have problems. If your target audience can read it, then never mind what the general public (i.e. TB off topic) says.

Well, the whole point of this wasn't to critique other's art, just share it. Maybe help people that need artwork done find someone that does the style they like.

Definitely not seeing a "gang" style in this at all. Obviously others will see it differently, but I can't think at all how this could be gang styled.

If you look at the poster above, it's clear that that style of font/writing is commonplace in that particular genre/culture. I'm guessing everyone you've showed it to so far have been members of that culture and that's why nobody's had problems reading it...that is until you showed it to us. People who aren't used to reading that style.

It's a similar thing with gang writing. You and I might have problems reading it but gang members wouldn't.

I see what you're saying with the whole artistic commonplace. I assumed(yes, I'm an ass), you were saying this looked like "gang style" writing. Apologies.
