If it's a MIJ Mustang: orange with red competition stripe: can't go wrong with that one.
If you're a blues player: blue.
If you're into goth stuff: black.
If you want your bass fit whatever outfit you're wearing: white.
If you want to make an ecological statement: green.
If you want people to think that your instrument sounds fine: red.
If you want to look like a smiley: yellow.
If you want people to think there's something wrong with their eyes: purple.
If you want a classy look: 3T sunburst.

I myself love white basses. My Fender Precision is white with W/B/W pick guard and rosewood neck. Just looks classy to me. If not white then green would be my next color for a bass because green has always been my favorite color. Hmm...perhaps my next bass will be a green one 
Where is the white option? White is superior due to it encompassing ALL the colors!!! mmmmmmwahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Purple. Delicious, purple-y purple. Offset with a purple or pearloid swirl pickguard. And flatwounds.
