It's a solid axle.Wait, don't K10s have independent front suspensions?
Inversely, I've seen a dually C/K30 on youtube with IFS. I think it was something like an 88 model year. Strange, I thought heavy duty trucks at the time only came with solid axles.
So was your solid axle factory or is it from a Blazer(Blazers came with solid axles right?) or an HD? How about K20s? Do all K20s through 1991 have solid axles? It's a solid axle.
GM used solid axle on K30s until 90/91
If I had that thing, I'd be itching to get a lip spoiler, a front chin spoiler, get the car low to the ground on a set of mag wheels and airbrush realistic flames from the nose back slowly fading into the paint about a third of the way into the doors. My 1979 L-82 Corvette is still my favourite iconic car. Factory solid, all K series trucks (blazer being K5) should be through 90So was your solid axle factory or is it from a Blazer(Blazers came with solid axles right?) or an HD? How about K20s? Do all K20s through 1991 have solid axles?
I've also noticed that some half ton GMs of the era have five lugs while others have six. It's amazing how many nuances these trucks have.
Was it the low output engines of the late 70s? Could people not do anything about that though? I mean, weren't they the same engines found in the cars from previous years?I drove a 79 for about four years. Silver with off white interior. Slow as a pig but it sure looked nice.

Thank youFactory solid, all K series trucks (blazer being K5) should be through 90
The 5 lugs are 2wd, 6 being 4wd
Round headlights for the win!

My third set as well. Is a shame reallySweet!! Love the Goodyear MT/R's you're running..... too bad they don't make them anymore. I had three sets of them.
The 3rd generation Corvettes ran from '68 - '82. Early Corvettes included small block 350's with big block engines optional. Later vehicles had no big block options, and while the stock engines were the same 350 cid engines of earlier years, they were less powerful (195 hp) because they were lower compression, had less aggressive camshafts and more restrictive airflow at multiple points. Was it the low output engines of the late 70s? I was trying not to completely nerd out on all the details. But seeing as you went there...73 - 87 K series trucks have solid axles, from K5 thru K30.
88 and up K series (new body style) are IFS.
88 - 91 Blazer (full size, not the stupid S10) and 4x4 Suburban retain the older body style and solid axles.
Now, since the K designation followed the 4x4 body change in 88, the Blazer and Suburban become the R and V series, R being a two wheel drive and V being a 4x4.
If I had that thing, I'd be itching to get a lip spoiler, a front chin spoiler, get the car low to the ground on a set of mag wheels and airbrush realistic flames from the nose back slowly fading into the paint about a third of the way into the doors.

That said, the Chevy Corvette was the most powerful American performance car of its time.
Yep 203/205. Figure the driveshaft at 52", it's a long bed203/205 combo?? How long will your rear driveshaft not be??
The Blazer of mine I posted back a few pages has a 14 Bolt full floater, Dana 60 front and a 205 case. Long gone are the 12 bolt rear, 10 bolt front and 203 case.
No surprise to see a K series steering box in the drainpan. How does the frame behind it look??
Next mod for my Blazer is crossover steering with the 2wd box.
