Not that I have 60 bucks to burn but I've been considering replacing the stock mint color (3-ply, middle ply black, see pic below) pickguard of my Fender Am.Pro Pbass with a black one (Fender 3-ply, middle ply white). I like the bass as it is but a black pickguard would perhaps spice it up a bit. Or not. What do you think? No, tort is out of the question.

Yes, with a maple fretboard and black inlays, a black pg should work nicely!

Tort is always the correct answer but for me personally, as stock and Fendery a one as you can acquire. I'm not a fan of new weird "spitfire" tort and such things etc. And to me, black would not work on that bass at all. Very blah. Not a good look. JMO. Honestly best choice might be just white or or pearl white. Not a fan of mint green.

Mardi Gras
AKA Confetti
AKA Clown Barf

I like a medium darkish tort on black or burst
But clown barf looks really good on white

The challenge is to find a clown barf of good quality, it's kind of hard to find these days. Just like it's sort of hard to find a good tort.

The industry might have moved to a PVC material rather than whatever the old Plastics were.

For a white Precision, it's either tort (the good kind) or mint. That's according to my extensive, subjective research over decades. Black may work, though, for Orejon or Dee Dee Ramone fans.
