So I'm getting a Fender Jazz bass. I'm getting the black with a white pickguard, but that looks a little dull, doesn't it? What should I do with the pickguard? Color suggestions? Thanks.

Make a clear plexi-glass guard... that way you can trim up different pictures to put under it... I prefer Marilyn Monroe, Vargas Girls, or Shaun Cassidy...

I'm close to you... lemme know... I can probably whip a reasonable one up in little to no time!

I always thought red pickguards on black fenders look nice.

go to Warmoth Guitar Parts they have just about every color of pickquard known to man and they are ready to install in a Fender bass. One suggestion I have if you are truly looking for something unique is to make a figured wood veneer pick guard something like a quilted maple top with a translucent red stain. It would be a very unusual touch to a black bass and if done tastefully would look very cool.

  10. Carbon Fiber.

    or Gun Metal.

mirror, tort, brushed aluminum, black pearl and carbon fiber all look great.

  13. I am sure somewone has one or will make one. That stuff is somewhat ubiquitous in the automotive aftermarket world.

But the fun of having a unique pickguard is knowing that nobody else has one like it.

It would look pretty trick on a black or trans black bass.

Status has them for their retroactive basses but I'm not sure if they sell them...

Rob will sell them. They aren't cheap about $300.00. I would go with either pink or yellow pearl.

  18. way cool but 300 clams? I

would get some yo-boy honda car tuner to cut me one. they buy that crap in bulk to customize their civics. some of it is just sticker-based, which can be layer # 2 on a standard 3 layer guard.

    First layer. . .stock
    Second layer- carbon fiber
    third layer. . .clear
