Pickguard removed, need advice

Hi all,

I have that great fretless I bought a couple years ago from a fellow TB'er.

This weekend, I decided to take off the pickguard to have a look underneath.
There was no routing channels, the finish is perfect. So I decided to keep the
pickguard off, but I want to protect the paint around the screw holes because it seems to
flake a bit.

I've read another post suggesting to leave the hole and put black or chrome pg screws.

That sounds good, but what can I use to strengthen the paint a bit?

If you put the screws back in (a very cool look, by the way) you shouldn't really have much of a problem with the paint flaking since the edge of the hole will be protected by the screw head.

Order a custom clear pickguard!
I've put a few drops of CA in chips to stop it from chipping more. It works.

You could get some washers that match the color of the screws.

Be careful tightening the screws without washers. The head of normal PG screws are conical and could cause the paint to crack even more.
