Picking out a new amp

Well I'm thinking about getting a new amp (which will make it my second one) and since income for a 15 year old its fairly limited I really need to pick the right one, I've looked at a bunch of amps and I'm fairly sure I want to go with a Mesa Boogie cabnet, however I have no idea which one to get. As for a head I got next to no idea which one would be good for me. I play rock mostly like Tool and Primus but I also play some funk here and there any recomendations? (Oh yeah about $1,000 is the price range I'm looking at)

I'm 15, and from Australia (but I buy everything from America because it turns out to be cheaper). I went with the Genz-Benz Shuttle 3.0, and am looking to get an Avatar SB112 Neo cabinet shipped over. It really depends on how many watts your looking for and if you want a lightweight rig or not.
Also do you play any gigs yet?

A few questions that need to be answered first.

1) What kind of music do you play?

2) How much power are you looking for?

3) Could you buy used?

4) Do you want a combo or half stack (used)?

I'm sure there are more but those are the first ones that came to mind.

Whoops didn't read the entire post. Sorry late for me. Well you are going to have to buy used if you are going to get a decent half stack for that much. Ive always used Ampeg stuff myself dunno seems to be pretty solid stuff but you should go to your local music store and play everything you can then look online for used.

Used stuff isn't really an option for me at the moment the only music stores that carry guitar stuff are 5 Star Guitars and Guitar Center but thanks for your suggestion I'll start looking them up right away. Also my band and I are starting to play gigs as well, nothing much but its going to be slow at first I guess.

Okay, so are Guitar Center and Five-Star your only option? Or can you buy online too? Do you live in Washington County, OR area? I know Five-Star Guitars in Beaverton intimately. They have an old SVT-400 there on consignment for cheap, but I don't recommend it if you need a lot of power. You still haven't told us what kind of music you play.

Five-star has lots of mesa stuff, some Ampeg and GK, and consignment stuff. I recommend you buy a Little Mark II from Guitar Center and buy an Avatar 410 Neo from www.avatarspeakers.com That should put you @ $1000 + shipping for the Avatar.
