Picks?

The first ones of those I saw were red. I really want Dunlop to bring back the red ones. They were much cooler. Hasn't stopped me using them, but I can dream. :hmm:
I would like to see more white picks. The Gator 2.0's are gray, and they turn blacker the more you use them. And you know what that means...if you drop it on a stage, it'll take you forever to find it. Red ones are a little easier to find, but the white ones are super easy to find. But dark colors...forget it! And the worst is trying to find the tortoiseshell picks. They blend in with everything.

I've been a fingerstyle player for decades, but my rock band plays a few songs where pick sounds so much better: Mudshovel by Staind, Would by Alice in Chains, Slither by Velvet Revolver. I figured a thick pick was the way to go and started on 1.14, but then realized that a thinner pick gave me a sharper attack... and that's the whole reason why I use a pick!

So I tried 1mm picks, then 0.88 (green tortex), but lately I've been using the yellow 0.73 a little bit more.

Even more recently a friend lent me a couple of his Ultex picks. I think I like them a little better, they seem to have a little more edge. The only bummer is that they're semi-transparent yellow, and probably a bitch to find when dropped.

That said, I use the Dunlop pick holder on my mic stand. So if I drop a pick, I can easily grab another one:

It is not often I use it, but it is the Dunlop green .88 that I punch a hole in the middle of.

I usually use one of the rounded corners rather than the pointed tip as I like the sound it delivers, and find it easier to grip that way.
