Pickup Bus?

I'm trying to install a Darkglass Tone capsule (replacing the Tone PumpJr) and an EMG stacked Vol/Vol pot in my Spector Pulse 5 string. I've never done work like this before, so I'm taking things slowly.

I (think) I have things wired properly, but I have something wrong, so I am trying to troubleshoot.

One thing that I am uncertain about:

New EMG DC40s (the stock pickup) come with a board referred to as a "pickup bus" that is a piece that I have not found in the wiring cavity. My questions are:

1. would the TonePump JR preamp have this pickup bus integrated as one piece?
2. I have not removed the pickups, would the pickup bus be hiding underneath them?

The "pickup buss" EMG uses is really just to simplify their plug and play wiring, allowing you to use lots of different configurations without having to make specific wiring harnesses for each configuration. You definitely don't need it, and I wouldn't expect to find it in a mass produced OEM wiring configuration.

If you explain the problem you're having and show some photos or diagrams, we can probably help you figure it out.

I suspect my first problem is with connecting the pickups to the stacked pot. While there are solderless connections on the pot, I didn't have a cable with the necessary connector, so I'd soldered it (which may have been done incorrectly). I've ordered the solderless cables, which should be here in a few days, so I hope that will resolve that possible issue). Once they come in, and I take the bass apart again, I can take photos.

I'm also uncertain about the output wire from the pots- I don't know if I need to wire both outputs to the preamp (i.e., two wires in one connection on the preamp) or if the pots get wired with a connector, and then one wire to the preamp. i'm using the "two volume Controls" diagram in the manual ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) as my guide, but that appears to be one connection between the two volumes and the preamp.

Two wires in one connection on the preamp is electrically the same as connecting both wires to one single wire and then connecting that single wire to the preamp. Generally, in a "two volume controls" or blend pot scenario, there is a single "hot" wire that's run from one volume to the other, and then from there to the preamp. On a blend, it's typically done with a short jumper between the output side of each pot, then from one of those terminals over to the preamp.
