Pickup foam?

Hey all,
I recently put barts in my Warwick and the bridge pu is wobbly...
Since the springs were removed, I am figuring that I am going to have to put more foam under the pu to get that more solid.
Does anybody have any recommendations on what type of foam would work?

I just cut up an old mouse pad and use that.

Both are good ideas, the mouse pad one especially. Pretty much anything that is squishy yet firm and with the right thickness will work. Be imaginative.

I went to Home Depot and bought thick, dense weather stripping with the sticky back.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does the foam do? Everyone of the pickups Ive played with just had a spring, and no foam.

I've used: weather stripping, mattress topper foam, folded cardboard, foam from fabric stores, etc. All worked well.

Same function - it's just a compressed object that pushes the pickup up and out of the route and working against the downward force of the screws. The point is to have enough foam (or spring stiffness) so that you can adjust the pickup height if need be by loosening the screws that hold the pickup in place.

I tried a few of the ideas that some have posted, but now rely on All-Parts pickup foam. The size is perfect for Jazz pups and you can cut them in half for P. They run about $4 a pack (two pieces) where I get them (Torres Engineering in San Mateo, CA).

I took an old foam rubber drink holder...the kind you use to put a can or bottle of beer in. Just cut it to fit the the route or the same dimensions as the pickup and your done. It's the perfect thickness for p-bass or jazz bass pups.

Go to your local hardware store and buy the hose-like foam that is used to insulate water pipes. It has a cut lengthwise so you can install it on pipes.

I bought a 6 foot piece for about $3.

Thanks superduck, foam is defiantly the way to go,damn springs are hard install/remove :lol:
