This pickup is from a Hondo bass, looks like a Dimarzio clone or something. I basically want to make sure I understand the wiring before I reinstall it. Thanks

1) Strip a bit of insulation off each wire.
2) Use an ohmmeter to determine which wires are paired in a coil - if the resistance between two wires is a few kOhms, then those two wires are from the same coil, and are "paired. Write down which wires are paired with each other.
3) Solder one of the wires to ground. Doesn't mater too much, just pick one
4) Solder the other wire from that coil/pair to one of the wires from the second coil. Write down which wire from the second coil you used in this step
5) Solder the remaining wire to hot.
You should have signal. If you also have hum, unsolder the hot wire, and unsolder the two wires from different coils from each other. Leave the one that you had wired to ground - so you've undone steps 4 and 5. Redo steps 4 and 5, but when you pick a wire from the second coil, use the other one for step 4. Step 5 is self explanatory - solder the remaining wire (which will be a different one) to hot, and you should be good.
