Double Bass Pickup ideas

You might could start here. Safe to say your choices and opinions here on the subject are varied. Popular pickups these days w/ people who frequent this forum include the Fishman Full Circle, Upton Rev Solo, Gage Realist, Underwood, K&K Bass Max, and Planet Wing. I've probably left some out.

I know you said old school but that B-18N just might be too woofy for DB. OTOH it might sound righeous. Dunno 'til you try.

What kind of gigs mostly?

an eighteen has a ton of super lows. Super lows are your enemy w/ upright, it'll howl really easily. I'd say get a box w/ a HPF (high pass filter), to roll off the lowest notes. A couple of good ones are the Fishman Pro Platinum pre, or the HPF-pre. This will tighten up the sound and reduce feedback TREMENDOUSLY.

As for the pickup, I love my underwood.

BTW where in Arkansas are you. I'm in Little Rock. Did you buy your S9 in Glenwood?
