Pickup protruding pole pieces

He definitely has the BigMan. And comapared to the Split man in your photo, those are raised higher and not following any radius on E A and D. I would call Carey. Vould be an issue. On my Lolar equipped I had to lower the pickups because I keep on hitting the poles when slapping playing aggressively.

The Splitman is really just 2 big splits and those are not staggered.

I was simply pointing out that Nordstrand will make pickups with staggered poles on request, so without knowing the history of this bass and pickup, we can't assume there's something wrong with it. I provided a screenshot in counter to your screenshot, but really my comment was for the thread as a whole. Some were saying it's wrong without really knowing the story.

As usual, the correct answer (already given) is contact Nordstrand and ask. They built it, and they will know better than random individuals on the internet.

Thanks for the inputs. I open up the covers and found the pickup bent upwards in the middle. Wow. First time encountering this problem. The cover has permanently bent upwards as well.

It looks like the bottom plate and the assembly with the p'up match the deformity, same curvature, which makes me wonder if it was manufactured to be this way? Looks like even if it was flat the poles would still be unequal lengths?

This is a Nordstrand BigSplitMan5 with raised bobbins. The deform shape made the middle raised up higher and my low B n G now has a lower output that I usually would on a flat profile pickup.

Most of my basses have full covers or flush bobbins bcz I play over the pickups. gonna order a bigman5 with flush bobbins bcz of this.

Absolutely, Exposed poles is normal for this exact example and those are definitely different heights.

As far was a warp, without the top cover, the actual guts are very bendy and soft plastic. I do not think that top cover will ever warp without getting stepped on or put in an oven.

The covers are radiused slightly from factory

To the OP, I suspect there is nothing wrong with your pickups.

I know it’s unbelievable. Added a few more photos showing how bad the cover deformed. As it bend upwards, the lower sides buckled under compression.

I suspect most pickup manufacturers would make a pickup with flat plate and vary the polepiece height to match a specific radius or staggered.
