Ok here a question (and yes I am a newbie) I have a pickup question. Well 2 actually.
Ok I have read enough on here to have a basic understanding of the difference between P pickups and J pickups.
Until recently I only owned a Yamaha RBX 260 P bass. Within the last year, I scored a couple of used basses really cheap. My new additions include a LTD TA-200 with EMG's and a Washburn XB-120 that has washburn "soap bar" pickups.
That was a long way to the actual question, what are the characteristics of a "soap bar" pickup? Other than the shape. And are the EMG's also a soap box?
