PICKUP REPLACEMENT ON SQUIER JAZZ

I cant seem to find any solid information on replacing the "same length " pickups for Squier Jazz basses ie. having to rout out the body etc , has anybody had any success with this operation , the stock neck pickup appears to be 2mm wider and the bridge about 4mm narrower than all the replacement pups and the c2c screwholes are different on the front . Any suggestions ? I presume there are thousands of working Squires out there with upgraded pups but all retrofit reviews are on MIMs ans MIAs . Thanks

True . Its a 1996 Korean 50th Anniversary Serial CN 60XXXXX . Both Pickups have 92mm length and 20mm width with 42mm c2c screwholes . I might just keep them in [ they are quiet ] and try an onboard Bartolini preamp . Any suggestions ?
