pickups gone mad?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Rakkanick, Jul 24, 2009.

  1. I was jamming with my band yesterday and my E string broke so I changed only the E string so i could keep playing but for some reason something went wrong. Whenever i play that E string the sound that comes out of the amp is about 1/2 weaker. It never happened in the past so i'm totaly confused. For info i'm tunned in dropped C and use an ESP B-404 SM. Is it my pickup who's got a problem, is it the string it self or the tension in the neck. the strings brand is very cheap could that be it? help please!!

    Try another string.

Most likely the string. Tuned to drop C there isnt much tension and the strings are often loose, so the pole pieces may not be picking up the metal well.

  4. Might be a string for an acoustic/piezo bass - they're not as magnetic as electric strings.
