Pickups in handmade bass

Hi. The bass is very well built (by a luthier). There's no hole for the pickups so I can hardly put anything. I like mid-low sounds.

I'm stuck between Jazz Bass or MusicMan.

I was looking for the EMG-X and the Bare Knuckles. Can I put them together, like the EMG-X on the bridge and the BK on the neck? Money is not really an issue as I want it to sound like I want.

It's a 5-strings.

Due to varying impedance levels you'll need an active buffer of some sort.
