I love the acid jazz...great shape...no wait...AWESOME shape!

I'd love one with a black limba top, or Australian blackwood, that would be nice, too...

Nordie pickups, of course...and passive...

:)

Just so folks don't get the wrong idea the ACID-J will have very limited options. I'm toying with the idea of offering a Dark Starred version.

That, in and of itself, is a first from you! A very hot place has had an ice storm...;) :D

I've done plastic pickguards and I've done clear, just not together. I could do a dye job. I'd like to keep the ash grain showing through. I've got orange stuck in my head. Orange dye job with a an orange pearloid pickguard and black hardware. :D I think it would look neat, but not sure what the general bass playing public would think. Natural ash with a 3-ply flat white/black/white p/g and chrome hardware might be safer. Gimme some suggestions.

I love the orange idea! I'm a fan of orange so I'm a little biased though.

Do something outside the box on this (IMO), it'll make it stand out more than it already does, and I'm sick of people always doing the same thing.

Orange and tort would be cool too...

Greg

Natural ash and red tort, maybe? Kinda semi-classic vibe. Or a little bit of orange tint and b/w/b pg...or maybe natural with black moto pearl? Or no pg at all...natural ash clear pg...what about brushed steel pg with chrome hw?

Both times I've seen a trans orange Fender P, I've really liked them. I don't remember which color PG they come with, though.

How about orange dye, with a diamondplate PG? Or, even better maybe, some stuff from these guys (They sell material direct, but you can also get a limited selection of their stuff through McMaster-Carr):

Don't miss the "colors" heading in the left-hand column, too. Cool stuff.

This is cool, but make that pickguard a white pearloid one and we've got it hot, even if youre kinda goin' for a vintagey feel. The chrome on the natural ash is perfect. I was thinking a sort of "orangeburst" type stain with the yellow-to-orange.

I took a quick peek. Interesting stuff. Is it all stainless? It's probably not easy to cut and shape, is it?

My wife and I were just talking about a yellow/orange burst on that bass. I don't know about the white pickguard though. I think a white pickguard might make it look like a big Dreamsicle, which I happen to love, btw.

The thin stainless might not be too bad to cut, although the lighter gauges do emboss deeper, complicating things.

They also do aluminum (brushed, polished, ...), plain steel (in case you wanted to machine a part and then plate it yourself), copper and brass, and a few others. I can't find the list on the site, except on a drop-down on the samples request ("contact us") page.

I rough-quoted them as a possible material supplier for machine skin panels. They do all different gauges of thickness, too. If you call them, they'll send you some samples. Mine were about 6x6". You should be able to ask for samples of specific patterns/scales/metals/gauges, if they have some on the shelf at the time, IIRC.

There are some good shots in their brochure, off that same page.

My company ended up using painted panels instead, but we did buy the diamond/lattice stuff (WL pattern) welded into tubes, for use as door handles.

I always thought that a retro-ish bass would look cool with PG or pup surrounds out of the parallel stripe pattern with black powdercoat infill.

The aluminum looks a lot cheaper than the stainless.

For the Aussies, a Dreamsicle is a cream-filled icy pole...similar to what we find here...

That's how I remember Dreamsicles. It was an orange "Popsicle" stuffed with vanilla ice cream. I don't remember the sherbert. I know if you eat an orange and a vanilla Tootsie Roll at the same time it tastes just like a Dreamsicle.
