I' looking to build a faux-archtop bass with F-holes and a trapeze tailpiece and I'd like to see your pix from which to draw inpiration.

I can't find anything at all on line, but I played a festival, the guy who backed up Frank Frost was playing a Gibson archtop bass, I asked him about it, said it was an ES175B, I think it was a one off made for him. It was tobacco sunburst and gorgeous. Sorry I couldn't find a pic for you but it was exactly as you described.

    Here's a nice one http://www.vinnycollettiguitars.com/archtop_bass.html
  3. Not a faux archtop, but here's a faux f-hole. :p

Here is my 60s Bartell Hohner. More of a semihollow but has some elements of an archtop.

I appreciate your pics so far and they are all exquisite instruments. I guess I'm just looking for something a little more classically designed. something like this only in bass form

Now that's a thing of beauty....can it get more classic than that?

Those Hofners are exactly what I was looking for. does anyone by chance own one or know of anyone who does who might be willing to trace it out for me?
