Piezo Response Problem

I have a 6 String Fretless bass with both magnetic and piezo pickups. The Bass has an active/passive push pull knob, and I've noticed when in active mode the response on the higher strings (specifically C and G) are much lower than the lower strings.

Is there a practical solution I could do to fix this or am I going to have to take it to a shop?

What kind of a bridge is it? Has it always been like this? This problem is typical of uneven string tension across the bridge. The more tension the louder the sound. On some bridge setups increasing the tension is fairly easy. On others next to impossible. Pics would help.

Does piezo work in passive mode?
I suspect that C and G saddles are wired out of phase, so cancellation occurs (would sound quieter and thinner).
These saddles may just be defective. That happened once to me. I took two saddles from another set and that fixed the problem completely. You may try swapping quiet saddles with loud and see what happens.

Thanks guys, I'll do some experimentation when I get home. The dynamic response of the high strings is much more even in passive mode.
