Just got this today....the tolex was whooped, and I was bored. $60 in supplies, and an afternoon of work later.....

OK, that thing is pig-ugly.... and I kind of like it ....

If it's not too much trouble, How did you do that exactly ??

And if it's not too tricky, I may owe western civilization an apology for what I'm thinking about doing.. :D

Thanks! I'd do the same to my head to make it match, but I think I'd have a lynch mob after me for doing that to a 70's SVT :D

I just peeled the tolex off of the whole thing, which wasn't hard seeing as a lot of it was already gone, and ampeg uses some real garbage for tolex to begin with. Take off the hardware, and anything else that is installed on top of the tolex to get it all off, and be able to install the new material underneath where the stuff goes.

From there, it was just a lot of spray glue, a lot of cutting trimming and fitting, and some patience. I did the whole cab in one single piece, but the corners are still pretty tricky. It came out pretty well, and it is every bit as ugly as I had hoped!

Also, as you can see I painted the speaker baffle white, to make the speakers stand out more and make more of a cowish appearance.

Moo.
