jonas hellborg uses them alot on his solo bass album, Elegant Punk, particularly the song Glad to be back from paris. great great album i luv it. he's so awesome.

pinch harmonics

i strum my bass, and i slap, and I finger pick, and use three fingers. Actually, ALOT of people strum their bass (Les Claypool does it CONSTANTLY)
I use pinch harmonics once in a while but i use natural harmonics constantly. Its fun because some people have no idea that a bass can make a noise like that.

That, the silent Life and temporal analogs of paradise all have great examples of him using those techniques.

) harmonic is generated by fingering(or 'stopping') a note with your left hand and then 'pinching', 'capoing', whatever you want to call touching a node above the fretted note with your plucking hand, and plucking behind the pinch with another finger, a plectrum, etc. Artificial harmonics are exactly what Jaco used on Birdland(You're right, BassicRob
), and they are the same technique which Steven Bailey uses a lot.Bailey gets them differently than Jaco did, but they are BOTH artificial harmonics.

YAY! I actually know something!
I guess that makes me a bass virtuoso!! I love to dabble with these types of harmonics. I have one tune where if you do what I mentioned on the E string (or anywhere, I just like the sound there) and fret the first few frets, o the 12th, and add some vibrato. Makes a cool sound IMO.
